Reviews
This hotel is used as emergency accommodation for our city's homeless. I had the misfortune of having to visit the hotel a few weeks ago. The atmosphere as you walk in is grim. The staff were sat at reception like prison warders. One resident was breaking his heart at reception to a member of staff with folded arms. He even turned away to ask me if he could help me during their exchange. He didn't offer to take the gent into a private space. It felt uncomfortable for me but must have been degrading and humiliating for the poor resident. Avoid at all costs. I only hope Glasgow City Council read this review. They definitely need to take a look at how this hotel treats our city's most vulnerable.
The hotel itself was good last time I went but is now used as a halfway house for junkies and is definitely a place to avoid
Good value, a lot more character than most hotels in this price range. The reception staff where first-class, the breakfast good and sensibly priced. The room had loads of plug sockets, and was pretty large. Down sides, the floor was incredibly creaky, there was a bit of road noise and sometimes I could feel a bus make the room shake. I had a really good night's sleep, the bed was very comfy and I would definitely stay here again as it is so well located.
Staff friendly and helpful rooms spotless if on a small size. Our bathroom was almost the size of the bedroom ha ha. Only downside was really isn't suitable for anyone with mobility or health problems as due to age and history of this beautiful building there are no lifts. Our breakfast choice was first class and our cooked breakfast was tasty and warm. Definitely will return again as its central to the shopping malls and train station.
Not a very good hotel it's for the homeless people now
It's the worst place out as u have a lot of drugs and alcohol users hanging around and people who are looking to sell you drugs
The rooms are pretty small, some smaller than others (I could barely fit my luggage in the room, had no cupboard and space to hang 3 coats) and they need some upgrading (I believe some of the rooms have already been upgraded though.)
I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful which was nice as I had just moved to the city.
All in all, I found it to be slightly cramped. But I didn't intend to spend all my time in the room and the friendly gestures made my stay pleasant. For the average price per night I can't complain too much and if I get the chance too look at the new rooms I'll update my rating accordingly.
5/5 Staff (Feels like a 5 star hotel service)
3/5 Room (Building age considered, could still do better, cupboards, hanging space and a chair should be a standard)
2/5 Luxury (Chairs in lounge area are falling apart, beds need replacing and walls could do with some repainting)
(Based on value for money)
Summary: Good place to stay if you're on a budget.
When entering the hotel, thought what have wee booked. Once inside we were given a warm welcome . Room was spotless, warm and very adequate for our needs. Decor had been repainted and could see that they were in the process of upgrading.
Breakfast room staff and breakfast was faultless for the price.
Excellent value all round! 😊🏴
